Warning Kindle 1 Users: Here’s What You Should Know Before Upgrading To Kindle 2

If you own an Amazon Kindle 1 and are thinking of upgrading to version 2, you should be aware of a few things before you spend $359 for the upgrade as you could end up frustrated. The following points are based on the experiences of real Kindle users when they made this ‘upgrade’ to the more ‘elegant’ newer Kindle from the original.

Files cannot be transferred to Kindle 2 from your computer without first having them reformatted for the new Kindle by Amazon.

Retrieving content from Amazon’s servers you have already purchased is not always straightforward. There are two reasons: Books sometimes get ‘removed’ from Amazon’s shelves, and newspaper and magazine subscriptions are not held for more than 6 days. So it is better to keep copies of all content purchased from Amazon on your own computer.

The new Kindle does not have any memory slots so it does not support SD memory as before. This will no doubt make organizing content difficult, and it moreover places a limitation on how much content you can store in the new device.

You won’t have the ease of the Jump Ahead and Jump Back feature. That’s because these are not available in the new Kindle. If the Table of Contents doesn’t work, as is the usual problem, be ready to click through each of the pages until you reach your desired page.

Batteries cannot be replaced by yourself. You would have to obtain an extended warranty for $65 and send your Kindle a year later to have its batteries replaced.

The new Kindle may look elegant on the outside but its silver grey screen is said to be not easy on the eyes. Furthermore, it is also subject to the problem of glare from light reflecting on its surface at a particular angle. All in all, these two points do not make for an easy reading experience.

You can’t expect any favors from Amazon just because you’re an original Kindle owner. Sorry, no discounts for an upgrade to the new model are offered.

Reading all these points you may come to think that the new Kindle does not live up to its hype. Both Amazon’s ebook reading devices are great pieces of technology and lead the industry. But if you are an owner of the original Kindle, you have a lot of content stored on it, and used to how it works, and are thinking of getting the newer Kindle, then you should definitely be aware of the above points. It is important to know the limitations of the newer model and the hitches that could occur in making the transition before taking out your frustration on the device itself.

Selling Ebooks with Added Bonuses

July 2nd, 2009
Written by Stephen Beck

Bonuses are the secret sauce for selling ebooks or any information product (or physical product for that matter). People want extreme value for things they purchase and this is especially true with information products.

You see, there is still a lot of mistrust in people’s mind about information products. Will your information product really deliver? Can I really get the results your information product promises? Bonuses can take away those worries especially when the value of the bonuses far exceed the value of the information product itself!

You’ve already worked hard to write your PDF ebooks. Don’t stop there – search out great bonus material and include it for free. That’s right, I said free! Your customers will be thrilled by the value, which leads to higher sales and more money in your pocket.

Bonuses can come in all formats. You can give away free ebooks, special reports, videos, audios…the sky is the limit. My rule of thumb is to give digital bonuses when I sell a digital product. It doesn’t make sense to ship physical products when someone purchases an PDF ebook or membership site. You are just adding more hassle to your life. But if you are already shipping a physical information product, then by all means throw in some physical bonuses as well.

So where can you find quality bonus material at little or no cost to you?

First, go to Google and do a search for “(your topic) free ebook”. Recently, I found some great information by searching “asthma free ebook”. Not only did I find several free ebooks, but the authors were interested in viral marketing and offered to let me share their ebooks for free.

Before sharing an ebook with others, make sure you read the permission statement to see if you are allowed to share, and under what conditions. With most free ebooks, you are permitted to share, but not sell, the product. That lets you include the ebook as a bonus to encourage sales of your information product.

Another great place to find bonuses are online article directories. Just type “article directories” into Google and you will find hundreds of article directories that allow you to use an article written by someone else as long as you keep the article and the author’s bio intact. Some of the bigger article directories are www.ezinearticles.com and www.articlecity.com.

Don’t just stop at one article – gather a series of articles, and put them together in a special report. Personalize the information by adding relevant comments at the end, explaining exactly how the information benefits your readers.

Use those three great sites to find incredible bonuses and add value to your ebook. Using this method, you can beef up your sales – once customers see your great value, they won’t be able to resist! Always give the customer more for his money, and you will enjoy healthy profits and a thriving business. Stay tuned for more articles on killer bonuses, how to find ‘em and where to use ‘em.
